As in the United States, in Brazil some license plates are banned. However, if you know someone who knows someone, you can get any plate you want (as long it isn't already taken). Just look at this:
It is a 1957 Willys Jeep, with a Ford Maverick V8 302 engine. The plate GAY 0024 is a double feature, because 24 is the number of the deer in the "Jogo do Bicho". Deer (or "veado", in portuguese) is a pejorative term for homosexual men.
For R$110,000.00 (US$47,000.00) it is worth the price?

What is it with gay number plates? In my hometown there's a 1-series BMW coupe with 'gay-69' plates.

Definitely looks like the body has been widened. Regardless, $47k for a CJ5 is CP.

GAY is one of the banned combinations in Brazil. It is very, very rare to see a car with a GAY plate.

License plate filtering in the US is often secondarily via the inmate labor assigned to stamp the plates - not a bad practice as it results in some plates getting caught that would not otherwise be noticed.

I don't think there's any particular combinations that are banned in Finland. As long as it has 1 to 3 alphabets and 1 to 3 numbers it's good. Oh, and zero cannot be the first (or only) number.
